The Doctoral School of the University of Vigo (EIDO) is responsible for the organization, planning, management, supervision, and monitoring of all doctoral activities at the University of Vigo, as well as managing open research training activities. The EIDO develops, disseminates, and reviews its strategy, which integrates quality policy and objectives, as well as goals and measurement indicators.

The EIDO has extensive experience in training doctoral students, promoting the production of high-quality theses. It is conceived as an interdisciplinary and multidisciplinary school that manages, through doctoral programs, the University of Vigo's doctoral training projects in all fields of knowledge, seeking maximum cross-disciplinary integration and contributing to the internationalization of researcher training.

The creation of the EIDO became effective with the publication of Decree 95/2013, of June 13, establishing doctoral schools in the universities of the Galician university system (DOG of June 26, 2013). Subsequently, the Ministry of Education was notified of the creation of the school through the Directorate General for University Policy for the purposes of its registration in the Register of Universities, Centers, and Degrees (RUCT) with the code 36020684. The objectives, nature, purposes, resources, organizational structure, and responsibilities of the EIDO's governing bodies are described in its Internal Regulations, approved by the University Governing Council on October 14, 2014.

All doctoral programs that have received a favorable verification report from the Council of Universities and authorization from the Regional Government of Galicia are integrated into the EIDO, which organizes the educational offering by defining its own strategy for doctoral training. Furthermore, the EIDO and the doctoral programs plan the activities offered for the cross-disciplinary and specific training of doctoral students, providing them with advice on all aspects necessary for their full integration into the doctoral programs. The purpose of EIDO is to develop a flexible, interdisciplinary, and high-quality doctoral training model aimed at promoting the university's most interesting and promising lines of research.
